When I first saw the NordicTrack T Series 10 had been released, I expected something very similar to the EXP series. I thought it would be geared more towards walking with a weaker motor and a more compact running deck. I soon discovered that my assumptions were all wrong! The NordicTrack T Series 10 had a few surprises in store for me.
Like most of the treadmills I review, I spent a lot of time running (and walking) on it before I wrote this review. The T Series 10 Treadmill is an iFIT treadmill, which means it showcases iFIT’s trainer-led workouts on the screen with a subscription. I trained with these classes and iFIT’s other features.
Keep reading to discover more about my experience on the NordicTrack T Series 10 and the iFIT platform.
The NordicTrack T Series 10 surpasses our expectations for the smart fitness brand at this lower price point. Sure, it isn’t the workhorse that the X24 or 2450 are, but it’s a decent smart treadmill for its price. At $1500, I expect to give something up in exchange for high-tech features, but I’m happy to say that the T Series 10 doesn’t give up too much.
We have a ton of treadmills in our testing studio, and when I go to test out the T Series 10, it can be hard to spot. We have several NordicTrack treadmills, and the T Series 10 looks quite similar despite its lower price point. The T Series 10’s steel frame is sturdy, even though it is a bit lighter weight.
The motor is 3.0 CHP, meeting our minimum standards to qualify as a running treadmill. I recommend the T Series 10 Treadmill to runners who want a backup for rainy days when they can’t get outside. It’s also a good treadmill for beginners and anyone doing low mileage indoors. It’s also a great walking treadmill and capable of handling high walking use.
I don’t love the motor’s responsiveness for short HIIT workouts. The speed adjustments from 1 to 12 mph are moderately fast, but the incline adjustments are rather slow, taking 47 seconds to adjust from 0% to 12%. It feels smooth and stable because of the slower transitions, so I recommend it for anyone who wants the extra stability.
One of the most unique features of the NordicTrack T Series 10 is the adjustable cushioning. The deck is a standard 20” x 60” with six adjustable shock absorbers—three on each side. You have to manually adjust each stabilizer to change the cushioning. I’ve done so a few times but was unable to notice a difference between one setting and the other.
I plan to keep training on the T Series 10 to see if I can record any differences between the cushion settings, but I haven’t seen any so far. However, I like how the cushioning feels. It is moderately soft and provides a comfortable break from road running.
You can run up to 12 mph on the T Series 10. The deck will support it, but the motor is much more suited to slower speeds.
Folding the T Series 10 reduces its footprint by about 40%. The deck is reasonably lightweight, allowing you to lift it to its upright position easily. If you can lift 30 lbs, you should have no trouble folding this treadmill deck.
To move the treadmill around, tilt it onto its two transport wheels. While holding the deck, you can roll the treadmill around as needed. It is difficult to roll over carpet. I don’t recommend moving it upstairs if possible, though you may do so with an extra set of hands or two. Keep in mind the treadmill weighs over 200 lbs.
The NordicTrack T Series 10 inclines from 0 to 12%. It does not decline. When inclined, the treadmill deck lifts to a maximum height of 15”. I recommend a minimum ceiling height of 21” more than the tallest user’s height. For example, a 6’ runner will need a ceiling height of about 7’9”.
We are very close to announcing the formal death of the tablet rack for home treadmills. It’s becoming an elusive feature that I once thought of as a permanent, essential feature. While I bemoan that singular missing feature (that the T Series 10’s predecessor had), I cannot find fault anywhere else in what this treadmill provides.
NordicTrack dialed in their consoles to give them a more streamlined look. You won’t find numbered speed and incline buttons on the T Series 10—it keeps those on the screen. Instead, you are limited to adjustment buttons for the speed, incline, volume, and fan. There are also start and stop buttons. I thought I would miss the numbered buttons, but with iFIT, I didn’t.
There’s a nice handle in front of the console, so you can support yourself or rest your hands if you would like. Another basic feature I always like to see is the safety key. You can clip the safety key to your shirt or waistband to feel more secure.
As the name of the treadmill suggests, it has a 10” touchscreen display. It tilts up and down, but it does not rotate. 10” is the minimum size I like for a treadmill screen. Any smaller, and I find that the screen is hard to interact with and view clearly. I’m 5’4”, and I didn’t have any trouble with this screen. However, some taller walkers and runners may prefer a larger screen size.
While previous editions of NordicTrack treadmills had slow content loading times, the new tablets are faster. It takes less time with this tablet to get into your workout than many experienced on the T Series 10’s predecessor, the EXP 10i. Still, I recommend placing the treadmill where it can get a good Wi-Fi connection for the best results.
A smart treadmill wouldn’t be complete without the inclusion of a set of speakers. The T Series 10 has two 2” front-facing speakers for clear audio. I can easily hear the treadmill over the motor noise and my foot noise.
If you don’t want to listen to the audio out loud, you can pair Bluetooth headphones. It’s really fast and easy to set the connection up. Just make sure your device is in pairing mode, and a few taps on the Bluetooth menu screen should get you squared away.
There are two cup holders on the T Series 10. I typically set my water bottle in one and my phone in the other. You could also fit a protein bar or some other nutrition if you are going for a longer walk or run.
The fan strength is sufficient to keep me cool while I’m running. It has three speeds and also has an automatic feature. The auto feature will adjust to run the fan more when you are working hard and slow it down when you are going easier.
I really liked running on the T Series 10. It felt minimally different from NordicTrack’s Commercial series treadmills, so I think it is a good option for anyone who wants to save some money. Still, I could tell that it wasn’t quite as sturdy or powerful, so it’s not ideal for marathon training or hours of exercise per day.
The T Series 10 is best for walking and light running. If you are a more advanced runner, I would save this treadmill for rainy days or a couple of easy runs per week.
I wish there were a more distinct feel between the two cushioning settings. I was expecting the cushioning adjustments to be noticeable, but they weren’t. I probably would set the cushioning one way and leave it. Maybe if you are more sensitive than me, you will be able to tell a difference, but at this time, not even my running dynamics pods were able to detect a noticeable difference in my running form from the variable cushioning.
Finally, I think this treadmill is a great option for anyone who needs to fold and unfold their treadmill often. The deck is light enough that it won’t be a pain to do. It’s also a bit easier to move around than some of the larger machines.
I know subscriptions are super divisive in the home fitness world. Some people love them; some people hate them. The iFIT training platform is available with the NordicTrack T Series 10, and it feels really essential to the treadmill’s functionality. The T Series 10 is usable without an iFIT membership, but it’s not my recommended way to train with the treadmill.
iFIT provides thousands of training classes for the treadmill. These classes are suitable for beginner, intermediate, and advanced exercisers. Whether you want to walk, hike, or run, there is something for you to enjoy with the NordicTrack T Series 10.
Treadmill classes follow a coach as they tour a beautiful destination. iFIT is a globetrotting platform with classes filmed pretty much everywhere! I love exploring mountain trails and sunny beaches from the treadmill deck. The incline automatically adjusts to the grade shown on the screen, making it feel like you are there.
The speed adjusts through the preset levels, the SmartAdjust feature, or the ActivePulse feature when connected to a compatible heart rate monitor. SmartAdjust remembers your performance in workouts and any manual adjustments you make during the class. It adjusts the speed of your current class and future workouts. ActivePulse uses your heart rate monitor to keep you in a set heart rate zone.
You aren’t locked into iFIT classes only. iFIT also has a section for creating your own interval or target program. There are template workouts to train with on the manual screen. iFIT even has an integration with Google Maps that allows you to create a route anywhere that Google has data. Your treadmill will automatically adjust incline to match the route.
Boredom is not possible on the NordicTrack T Series 10—or at least, it is much less likely. Apps like Netflix, Spotify, and Prime Video enhance your iFIT experience and provide a nice alternative to the classes.
AI is everywhere these days, and it’s made its mark on iFIT, too. You can opt into the AI Coach feature. “Tailor” will text you to learn your fitness goals and give you training tips. Tailor’s most useful feature is the ability to recommend and schedule classes for you on the treadmill. Next time you get on the T Series 10, your recommended class will be on your calendar!
Without any iFIT account or Wi-Fi, you are limited to the manual training screen. You don’t get access to a workout history or any of the streaming apps. With a free iFIT account, you can train with a few onboard workouts (the template workouts) and a featured iFIT class. Thus, the treadmill is usable, but it’s not the experience most of you will be looking for, I think.
The NordicTrack T Series 10 Treadmill is a smart cardio machine with thousands of trainer-led classes when you subscribe to iFIT. It has all the smart tech features you will find on NordicTrack’s more premium machines at a more reasonable price.
I recommend the T Series 10 to walkers and new runners who want extra cushioning to soften their impact. It is also a good treadmill for outdoor runners who want a backup plan for rainy or snowy days.
My favorite way to train on the NordicTrack T Series 10 is with an iFIT hiking class playing in the background while I’m streaming a Netflix show on the 10” touchscreen. Time passes by quickly, and I look forward to my next workout.
