Today we’re going to compare the Yowza Biscayne to the Freemotion XTr90, and see who comes out on top.
From just the looks, I would have to give it up to Yowza. If I had to choose one to put in my front room as a piece of art, it would be a snap. Yowza puts a lot of effort into the aesthetics of their treadmills, and they do a good job. So, let’s see if the beauty is only skin deep, or true blue, dyed in the wool, through and through.
We’ll start with the strength of the machine, ie how solid does it feel when you run on it, does it shake or wobble, is it rickety, etc..The Yowza Biscayne is made of Steel, all welded as one body. This makes for a much more solid frame and overall feel. As opposed to the Freemotion which uses some plastic and nuts and bolts to hold it together. Although the Freemotion XTr 90 deck can hold up to 325 lbs, it’s not as solid of a feel as the Yowza. The Yowza specifications state that its deck can hold up to 350 lbs.
The Motors of the two are very similar. They’re both 3.0 CHP, and sufficiently powerful to push any runner under the set weight capacity. The Freemotion XTr can reach 12MPH, while the Yowza Biscayne can only reach up to 10MPH. Yet, again, the Yowza motor is made with more quality parts and components, and operates at a lower RPM, making it quieter and more durable. However, both motors are covered by a lifetime warranty, and neither should give you too much problems.
The belts are about the same. They are both 2 ply and full 20″ x 60″. The Cushioning on the Yowza is from the deck floating on 2 rubber cushions (mult-durometer elostometer rings) that can’t be adjusted. The Freemotion has adjustable cushioning, so you can choose your level of cushioning comfort.
When it comes to Features and technology, they both have built in speakers and an ipod/mp3 player, they both have a variety of built in workouts to choose from. The Yowza has 9 user memory slots that can be programmed. The Freemotion is Ifit Compatible.
